Today’s business environment is ever-changing. Navigating such a landscape includes an understanding of finances, customer behavior, marketing, and more. A degree in business administration provides students a diverse and flexible skillset to navigate these changes.
What is Business Administration?
In education, business administration programs are designed to train students to manage business operations and functions. This program aims to graduate professionals who are prepared to help companies run efficiently and profitably. As a result, individuals in business administration programs are exposed to courses in accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, and more.
Business administration programs help students develop the skills to effectively manage and lead organizations.
Miller-Motte College offers Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Occupational Science, and Bachelor of Science business administration programs. Our associate business administration programs expose students to business finance, project management, communications, small business management, and more. Our bachelor business administration program expands these principles and explores the legal side of business, global business, and more.
Miller-Motte business program options expose students to customer relations, sales, marketing, finance, accounting, HR, project management, and business management.
Business Administration vs. Business Management
Although closely related, business administration and business management are two distinct fields of study.
Business administration focuses on the process of running a business. This field of study places more emphasis on running and maintaining a business rather than the supervision of employees. Business administrators strive to increase business growth and revenue by overseeing daily operations.
Business management focuses more on employee supervision and productivity. These programs typically emphasize leadership, growth strategies, effective communication, project management, and more. Business managers work directly with employees to help businesses remain productive and efficient.
What Can I Do with a Business Administration Degree?
Business administration programs expose students to a variety of functional areas such as management, finance, marketing, and sales. They provide a holistic view of running a business by allowing students to craft business plans and study financial markets. The skills covered in this program could be helpful for individuals wishing to become entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurs can create a new business based around their individual passions, beliefs, and life goals. This career option provides freedom to create a work environment suited to individual interests and lifestyles. Being an entrepreneur may also provide emotional fulfillment that some may lack when working for others.
That said, not everyone with a degree in business administration is interested in becoming an entrepreneur. Due to business administration’s broad range, program graduates may be prepared to begin careers in management, marketing, finance, or sales.
