On July 25, 2018, the Conway, SC campus of Miller-Motte Technical College hosted a Christmas in July event. The event was a fundraiser benefiting the Shepherd’s Table, a non-profit community kitchen in Conway that serves dinner to the least fortunate of the community. In an effort to encourage students to participate, a pizza party was up for grabs for the program that donated the most items. Over 400 items were donated to the community kitchen.
Students who attended the event were treated to Christmas cookies and Yoo-hoo while assembling Weekend Traveler Packs for Shepherd’s Table. 150 packs were assembled, each consisting of individual size containers of Vienna sausages, peanut butter crackers, fruit snacks, protein bars, water bottles and more. The packs will be distributed to people in the community who may not have access to food, water or cooking facilities over the weekends.
The winner of the pizza party with the most donated items was the Medical Clinical Assistant program under the guidance of teacher Amanda Gainey!
Let’s give ALL our students a big round of applause for their generous contributions to the community.
